How I Ended Up Here In This Womb of Horror
I was just minding my own cosmic business, y’all. Scrolling through TikTok, vibing with the algorithm, probably looking for a laugh or a life hack when the energy shifted. You ever see something so disturbing that it grabs your spirit by the collar and won’t let go?
That’s what happened when I saw the story of Adriana Smith, a 30-year-old nurse from Georgia who was declared brain-dead while pregnant. Instead of honoring her life or her death, the state saw one thing: a viable womb. They kept her body on life support for months not for her, but for the fetus inside her. And by the time they delivered the baby, her body had literally started to decay.
And baby, that was just the beginning.
Because once I started digging, I discovered that this wasn’t the first time. There was another woman in Brazil Frankielen Padilha who’d suffered a brain hemorrhage in early pregnancy and was kept alive for over four months so doctors could use her body to incubate twins. Nurses sang to her corpse. Decorated her room. Pretended she was still here. And the world called it a miracle.
I call it what it is: Forced gestational servitude. After death.
And if it’s happened there and here, don’t fool yourself into thinking it won’t spread. These aren’t one-off stories. This is a trend. A quiet blueprint of post-Roe patriarchy the next level in the long war on women’s bodies.
So yeah... that TikTok turned into a wormhole. And that wormhole led me here writing this piece. Not just for outrage. But for awareness. For documentation.
For the women who didn’t get to say no. And for the ones who might be next.
Because if we don’t name this? They’ll normalize it. And that is the most dangerous story of all.
