Just ‘cause your eyes open don’t mean you see somethin’.
Most people out here claiming they “woke” are just noisy sleepwalkers with a Wi-Fi connection and a podcast mic.
They repeating memes.
Regurgitating headlines.
Quoting Malcolm X with no context, wearing ankh earrings and still going to Target to “center themselves.”
You ain’t woke, sis.
You ain’t aware, bruh.
You’re just reacting loudly in a system that trained you to think volume = vision.
Let’s Break It Down: What Is “Awake”?
Being awake is the first nudge.
It’s the “wait a minute, something ain’t right” feeling.
It’s when your spirit side-eyes the system for the first time and goes,
“Why do I feel so… off?”
It’s emotional. Jarring. Confusing.
It often comes with:
Rage
Overconsumption of truth content
Arguing with family on Facebook
Wanting to move to Ghana, but still can’t even make it to yoga class on time
Being Awake is the spark, but not the flame.
It’s baby consciousness.
It’s spiritual adolescence.
It’s when you realize you were in a matrix, but you are still wearing the uniform.
Awareness? Now That’s a Whole Other Frequency
Awareness is clarity embodied.
It’s the stillness that comes after the storm.
It’s not just “knowing the system’s a lie”, it’s understanding how the lie operates, where it lives in you, and choosing not to engage with it on autopilot.
Awareness is:
Moving differently, not just talking differently
Leaving the U.S. and building sovereignty on foreign soil
Understanding what capitalism is, and how you’ve internalized it
Releasing performance and practicing alignment
Knowing when to speak and when silence is a higher vibration
Awareness is freedom from emotional reactivity and obsession with the fight.
Awareness ain’t triggered, it’s tuned.
Most People Are Neither
And I say that with love, but also with a full glass of truth.
Most folks are not awake.
They’re not aware.
They’re informed, agitated, performative, and addicted to aesthetics of liberation without doing the inner work.
They:
Post quotes but don’t apply them
Blame systems but won’t check their own behavior
Love astrology but ignore emotional patterns
Talk about breaking free but ain’t ready to lose comfort
Being “woke” is trendy.
Being aware is uncomfortable, quiet, and lonely.
That’s why so few choose it.
So, What Does It Take to BE?
It takes letting go of:
Ego
Titles
Groupthink
Validation
The need to be seen as “deep” or “intellectual”
It takes action over aesthetics.
Introspection over influence.
Discipline over dopamine.
It takes asking yourself,
“What do I believe?
Who am I when the crowd disappears?
Would I still be this person without an audience?”
It takes doing the spiritual dishes.
Cleaning the internal house.
Moving from the inside out.
Final Truth?
Woke is the filter.
Awareness is the mirror.
And most folks are just performin’ in front of one, scared to investigate the other.
But not me, sis.
I left the show.
I chose silence over spectacle.
I sat with the pain, not just posted about it.
I became the frequency.
And now?
I am the one who is showing others the way out and perhaps it’s your turn.
